How do you make an adjustment last?

Chiropractic adjustments help restore proper movement into a joint that is not moving correctly. This will then help reduce stress within the surrounding nerves. How do we get this adjustment to last longer?

1 ) Move more: After you are adjusted make sure you use the new range of motion that has been taught to you during your visit. Be more active during the day. Avoid sitting for long periods of time. Even doing basic circles with all the joints in your body can be helpful, as long as it is pain free.
2) Foam rolling and stretching: Think of foam rolling and stretching like a toothbrush for your spine and muscles. Doing this everyday or a few times a week can help reduce tension on the joints and muscles throughout the body. Check with your chiropractor for the best ways for you to use these tools.
3) Nutrition: Avoiding inflammatory foods will also help your adjustment last longer. The main foods to avoid are highly processed and overly sugary foods.
