What we are doing to address your concern about Coronavirus
Over the past couple of weeks, it has been impossible to turn on the TV, radio or internet and not hear something about the Coronavirus. We understand concerns and we wanted you to know what steps we are taking at Westchester Chiropractic and Wellness to insure your safety.
We always disinfect our chiropractic and massage tables in between every patient. You should know that we have recently increased the concentration of that disinfectant. All towels, gowns, and any item that touches a patient’s skin is always washed in hot water with detergent. All the doctors, massage therapists and floor personnel will continue to wash their hands in between patients. We have sinks at both ends of the hallways that are easily accessible. All surfaces in the office (chairs, door knobs etc), will be wiped down with disinfectant before the start of each morning and afternoon shift.
As a reminder, while the risk of contracting this virus is small, there are steps you can take to increase your resistance to this or any other virus or bacterial infection:
- Get Adequate Sleep – 8 to 9 hours per night, take naps, catch up on days off or weekends.
- Stay Hydrated – The general guidelines are half your body weight in ounces of water. This means if you weigh 150 lbs, you should consume 75 oz of water per day. Drink until your urine is mostly clear.
- Move – Exercise increases the efficiency of your lymphatic system which helps circulate germ-fighting fluids.
- Reduce Stress – Limit screen time and news reports that play to our fears. Read a book, listen to music, walk outside, meditate on positive thoughts and outcomes.
- Get Adjusted – Maintain proper function of your spine and nervous system. The nervous system controls your entire body, including the immune system. Proper spinal alignment increases the efficiency of your nervous system.
Germs from bacteria and viruses are (and have all been) all around us every day. We stay healthy because our immune system works continually to create a resistance to these germs. You may not always have control of your exposure, but you do have control of how strong your resistance is.
In closing, please remember that this virus has affected a very small number of residents in our area. Of that small number, 80% have gotten mild symptoms like a fever, fatigue and a dry cough and they recover completely in two weeks. If you have these symptoms, call your medical provider for guidance. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks always for your continued support of our office.
